Get to know Eczema and spread awareness!

Eczema generally refers to the chronic skin disorder or the skin condition that is mostly characterized by scaly, dry, red, itchy skin. Only the person suffering from eczema knows the pain he is actually going through. An eczema patient suffers from oozed patches that become red, scaly, hard and crusted under the favorable conditions and become breathing grounds for bacteria.  The cause of eczema is unknown, however, more studies are focusing on this disease as it’s spreading rapidly around the world. Generally, the hypothesis is that Eczema is caused via the amalgamation of genetic and environmental factors.

Eczema can affect any part of your body mostly found on the back of the knees,  bends of the arms and these symptoms can uniquely range from mild to severe with each passing day. We came across many types of eczema i.e Atopic dermatitis, hand eczema, contact dermatitis, stasis dermatitis, dermatitis atopica, neurodermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis. Let's know about  various types of eczema that are prevalent among different groups of the population.

Atopic - Atopic Dermatitis mostly begins in childhood, symptoms include itchy, dry, scaly skin, rashes, cracks on the cheeks, legs and arms.

Hand Dermatitis - Dermatitis includes the irritation of the fingers and the web spaces which is a common condition that affects approx. 10% of the population. The skin irritation is prominent in people with jobs involving healthcare, catering, mechanical work, cleaning and hairdressing.

Contact Dermatitis - Contact dermatitis can be mostly seen around the hands or different parts of the body that come in contact with the allergen or the irritant. A type of eczema that can cause skin inflammation due to the irritants that cause redness, burning or itching. Few common irritants can be listed as smoke, fabrics, paints, bleach, detergents, alcohol, pollens, soaps and various fragrances.

Dyshidrotic Eczema - A condition in which small, itchy blisters are developed on the feet and hands. The cause is unknown. This condition can be mostly seen along the edges of the toes, palms, soles and the fingers.

Seborrheic Dermatitis - Seborrheic dermatitis is a condition in which the  upper chest is affected and round red areas with the scaling can be seen. One of the common condition that is too much similar to eczema. This is caused due to an abnormal inflammatory response to yeast that is commonly found in the skin.

The person who is suffering from eczema can understand what it means to be a victim of this serious skin disorder. So be aware and protect yourselves against different allergens and irritants and share your experience so others can also benefit.
